Astrocytes are the major cell type in the mammalian brain. They provide supportive functions to neurons in the central nervous system including neuronal guidance during development, nutritional and metabolic support throughout life. Astrocytes have also been implicated in various pathological processes.
Cryopreserved Human Astrocytes (HA) are isolated from human brain of cerebral cortex.
Human Astrocytes are cryopreserved at P1 and delivered frozen.
Each vial contains 1 million cells in 1 ml volume.
Human Astrocytes are guaranteed to further expand for 10 population doublings under the conditions provided.
Human Astrocytes are characterized by immunofluorescence with antibody specific to GFAP.
Human Astrocytes are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi.
