Vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC) significantly contribute to the development of vascular disease. VSMC express the cell adhesion molecules ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 that promote VSMC proliferation and differentiation.
Human Brain Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells (HBVSMC) are isolated from human brain. HBVSMC are cryopreserved at passage 1 after purification and delivered frozen.
Each vial contains 500 000 cells in 1 ml volume.
HBVSMC are characterized by immunofluorescence with antibodies specific to α-smooth muscle actin and desmin.
HBVSMC are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi.
HBVSMC are guaranteed to further expand for 15 population doublings under the conditions provided.
Recommended Medium
It is recommended to use Smooth Muscle Cell Medium (SMCM, Cat. no. SC1101) for culturing HBVSMC in vitro.
Product Use
HBVSMC are for research use only. They are not approved for human or animal use, or for application in in vitro diagnostic procedures.
Storage
Upon receiving, directly and immediately transfer the cells from dry ice to liquid nitrogen and keep the cells in liquid nitrogen until they are needed for experiments.
Shipping
Dry ice.
