Immortalized Rat Retinal Cells (E1A-NR.3) are immortalized with the 12S portion of replication incompetent adenovirus E1A gene. It expresses vimentin and is the parental cells to the Immortalized Rat Retinal Precursor Cell Line (R28), also available at abm (T0575). E1A-NR.3 cells exhibit contact inhibition and anchorage-dependent growth. Researchers may use this cell line to study photoreceptor rescue or replacement paradigm as studies have shown that the Immortalized Rat Retinal Cells (E1A-NR.3) are capable to successfully be transplanted intraocularly.Immortalization Method: Serial passaging and transduction with retroviruses carrying 12S portion of replication incompetent adenovirus E1A geneBioSafety Level: IISpecies: RatSource Organ: RetinaGrowth Properties: AdherentMorphology: NeuronalPopulation Doubling: Doubling time of 24 hoursSeeding Density: Thaw entire contents into an appropriate T25 flask as specified in the Propagation instructions.Markers: N/ADonor Age: N/ADonor Gender: N/ADonor Ethnicity: N/APropagation: The base medium for this cell line is Prigrow III medium available at abm (TM003).
