The Immortalized Rat Retinal Capillary Endothelial Cells are immortalized with SV40 antigen. These cells are useful in studying the transport mechanism of molecules across the inner blood-retinal barrier (inner BRB).
Immortalization Method: Serial passaging and infection with Lentivirus carrying SV40 antigen gene
BioSafety Level: II
Organism: Rattus norvegicus
Species: Rat
Source Organs: Eye
Organ Type: Eye
Growth Properties: Adherent
Morphology: Polygonal
Passage Number: P10
Population Doubling: 24-28 hours
Seeding Density: Thaw entire contents into an appropriate T25 flask as specified in the Propagation instructions.
Propagation: The base medium for this cell line is Prigrow IV medium available at
abm, Cat. No. TM004. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum (TM999)* to a final concentration of 10% and Penicillin/Streptomycin Solution (G255) to a final concentration of 1%. Carbon dioxide (CO
2): 5%, Temperature: +37.0°C.* abm does not recommend to use heat-inactivated FBS for cell culture unless specified otherwise.
Quality Control: Real Time PCR was used to quantify SV40 gene expression in immortalized cell line.
Shipping Condition: Dry Ice
