Immortalized Rat Cochlear Microglia Cells (Mocha) are derived from Sprague-Dawley rat cochlea. Mocha cells express neomycin resistance gene, but do not need to be cultured in it anymore. G418 was used for selection to ensure homogenous population. It has been reported that the Mocha cells respond well to lipopolysaccharide treatments, and phagocytose fluorescent beads. Immortalized Rat Cochlear Microglia Cells (Mocha) are a unique cell line ready for research use.Immortalization Method: Immortalized with retrovirus containing 12S-E1A geneBioSafety Level: IISpecies: RatSource Organ: CochleaGrowth Properties: AdherentMorphology: Flat, with occasional processesPopulation Doubling: Approximately 24 hoursSeeding Density: N/AMarkers: Neomycin resistance, TMEM119, CD45, Iba1, CD68, Il1-betaDonor Age: N/ADonor Gender: N/ADonor Ethnicity: N/APropagation: The base medium for this cell line is Prigrow III medium available at abm, Cat.
