Immortalized Mouse alpha-GalA-/o Schwann Cells (1089C1) is a spontaneously immortalized cell line from Fabry mice. 1089C1 has a disrupted Gla gene allele and exhibits a distinct Schwann cell morphology and biochemical phenotype (α-Galactosidase activity was deficient). This cell line can be used as a murine model for Fabry disease studies.Immortalization Method: Spontaneous immortalizationBioSafety Level: IISpecies: MouseSource Organ: BrainGrowth Properties: AdherentMorphology: Spindle-shapedPopulation Doubling: N/ASeeding Density: N/AMarkers: S100, laminin, p75NTR, GFAP, globotriaosylceramide (Gb3)Donor Age: N/ADonor Gender: N/ADonor Ethnicity: N/APropagation: The base medium for this cell line is Prigrow III medium available at abm, Cat. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum (TM999)* to a final concentration of 5% and Penicillin/Streptomycin Solution (G255) to a final concentration of 1%.
Change media every 2-3 days.
