The Immortalized Human Gastric Cells (KMU-CS12) were derived from isolated gastric cell clones developed from gastric biopsy samples and were spontaneously immortalized in subsequent cultures. The growth of this cell line was found to be significantly faster than its parental gastric cells. This cell line shows cancer cell phenotypes with tumorigenic ability as tested in immunodeficient nude mice. Another unique characteristic of the Immortalized Human Gastric Cells (KMU-CS12) is the high expression of homeobox genes: HOXA4, HOXA5, HOXA7, HOXA9, and HOXA13. This makes the cell line useful in the construction of HOXA genes knockdown models as well as in research focusing on the chromosomal mutations in HOXA gene family. The Immortalized Human Gastric Cells (KMU-CS12) is also valuable in cancer research particularly in the etiology and studying new therapeutic strategy for gastric cancer.Immortalization Method: Spontaneous immortalization in subsequent culture with activated hTERTBioSafety Level: IISpecies: HumanSource Organ: StomachGrowth Properties: AdherentMorphology: PolygonalPopulation Doubling: N/ASeeding Density: Thaw entire contents into an appropriate T25 flask as specified in the Propagation instructions.Markers: Oct-4, Musashi-1, TFF-1, CK8, CK18, EMADonor Age: N/ADonor Gender: N/ADonor Ethnicity: N/APropagation: The base medium for this cell line is Keratinocyte-SFM (Gibco-Invitrogen Corporation) supplemented with N-acetyl-Lcysteine (NAC; 2 mmol/l) and L-ascorbic acid 2-phosphate (Asc 2P; 0.2 mmol/l), and Penicillin/Streptomycin Solution (G255) to a final concentration of 1% available at abm.
