The Immortalized Adult Mouse Coagulating Gland Cells (INK4 -/- CG)are derived from a subline of the INK4a mouse, a transgenic knockout that lacks p16INK4aand p19ARF. Both p16INK4aand p19ARF are specific inhibitors of cyclin-dependent kinases Cdk4 and Cdk6 that regulate cell cycle progression. The cells were isolated from the anterior prostate (AP), also known as the coagulating gland (CG), which has a unique cuboidal to columnar epithelium that has many mucosal folds projecting into the gland lumen. The lumen contains abundant eosinophilic secretions from the luminal secretory cells in the epithelium. This cell line is a useful model for studying the prostate stroma-epithelium signalling way, which plays an important role in prostate development and cancer progression.Immortalization Method: Isolated from p16INK4aand p19ARF Knockout Transgenic Mice BioSafety Level: IISpecies: MouseSource Organ: Dorsolateral Prostate Growth Properties: AdherentMorphology: Fibroblast-likePopulation Doubling: N/ASeeding Density: Thaw entire contents into an appropriate T25 flask as specified in the Propagation instructions.Markers: N/ADonor Age: N/ADonor Gender: N/ADonor Ethnicity: N/APropagation: The base medium for this cell line is Prigrow IV medium available at abm, Cat.
