The pulmonary vascular endothelial cells (PMECs) on the surface layer of the lung vasculature form a semi-selective barrier which is critical for gas exchange and the regulation of fluid, macromolecules, and cells between the blood and the interstitial compartments in the lung. Cytokines, chemokines, interleukins, adhesion molecules, and growth factors can be secreted by pulmonary ECs with positive and adverse effects.
The human pulmonary microvascular endothelial cells (HPMEC) are isolated from human lung. HPMEC are cryopreserved after purification and delivered frozen.
Each vial contains 500 000 cells in 1 ml volume.
HPMEC are characterized by immunofluorescence with antibodies specific to vWF/Factor VIII and CD31 (PECAM), and by uptake of DiI-Ac-LDL.
HPMEC are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi.
HPMEC are guaranteed to further expand for 10 population doublings under the conditions provided.
Recommended Medium
It is recommended to use Endothelial Cell Medium (ECM, Cat. no. SC1001) for culturing HPMEC in vitro.
Storage condition
Upon receiving, directly and immediately transfer the cells from dry ice to liquid nitrogen and keep the cells in liquid nitrogen until they are needed for experiments.
Shipping condition
Dry ice.
Product Use
HPMEC are for research use only. They are not approved for human or animal use, or for application in in vitro diagnostic procedures.
Warranty
Cells are only warranted if ScienCell's media and reagents are used and the recommended protocols are followed.
