Male Reproductive Cells

Here you can find prostate endothelial cells, epithelial cells and fibroblasts. You can also find medium to grow the cells as well as RNA, DNA and protein derived from these cells.

The prostate is a major accessory organ of the male mammalian reproductive system whose structure and functional activities are under the control of androgens. It is composed of three compartments that are distinguished by their cytokeratin expression profile. There is increasing evidence that basal epithelial cells differentiate into luminal epithelial cells. Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting older men and a significant cause of death for elderly men.

Microvascular endothelial cells play a central role in inflammation, tumor metastasis, wound healing and tissue engineering. They line the blood vessels and contribute to many biological processes such as hematosis, coagulation and trafficking of lymphocytes. The endothelial cell is of primary importance in the extravasation of leukocytes from the circulation into sites of tissue inflammation. In the case of prostate cancer, the interactions between prostate cancer cells with endothelial cells in the microvessels play an important role in prostate tumor metastasis.

Fibroblasts are mesenchymal cells derived from the embryonic mesoderm. They are one of the easiest types of cells to grow in culture, and their durability makes them amenable to a wide variety of manipulations ranging from studies employing gene transfection to microinjection. There is good evidence that fibroblasts in different parts of the body are intrinsically different. Fibroblasts within tissues are exposed to a dynamic mechnical environment, which influences the structure integrity of both healthy and healing soft tissue.
