They provide supportive functions to neurons in the central nervous system including neuronal guidance during development, nutritional and metabolic support throughout life. Astrocytes have also been implicated in various pathological processes.
Cryopreserved Human Astrocytes (HA) are isolated from human brain of cerebral cortex.
Human Astrocytes are cryopreserved at Passage no. 1 and delivered frozen.
Each vial contains 10 million cells in 1 ml volume.
Human Astrocytes are guaranteed to further expand for 10 population doublings under the conditions provided.
Human Astrocytes are characterized by immunofluorescence with antibody specific to GFAP.
Human Astrocytes are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi.
Recommended Medium
It is recommended to use Astrocyte Medium (AM, Cat. SC1801) for culturing Human Astrocytes in vitro.
Storage
Upon receiving, directly and immediately transfer the cells from dry ice to liquid nitrogen and keep the cells in liquid nitrogen until they are needed for experiments.
