Cell Specification
Human microglial cells are isolated from brain tissue samples digested with collagenase and plated in a proprietary medium for 1-2 weeks.
The microglia express a HLA class II antigens following treatment with interferon gamma, CD68, CD14, esterase, and other markers. The microglial cells do not express GFAP (astrocyte marker) or neuron specific markers. Human microglial cells are for research applications.
Cell Source
Human Microglial offered by 3H Biomedical are isolated from human brain tissue obtained after informed consent.
Cell Characterization
Microglia are isolated initially as a free floating population of cells from brain tissue samples digested with collagenase and plated in a proprietary medium for 1-2 weeks.
Microglia express CD45, CD14, CD68, and chemokine receptors.
Human Microglia are negative for HIV, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi.
Cell Culture Condition
The cells are cryopreserved. There is donor to donor variation in doubling time, and it is usually in the range of 48-72 hours.
