Primary Renal Cells

Here you can find renal epithelium and mesangial cells. You can also find medium to grow the cells as well as RNA, DNA and protein derived from these cells.

Renal epithelial cells play a crucial role in renal function. Similar to most other epithelial cells, renal epithelial cells display a polarized morphology which is essential for their function. They reabsorb nearly all of the glucose and amino acids in the glomerular filtrate, while allowing other substances of no nutritional value to be excreted in the urine. These cells are capable of internalizing bacteria. Renal glomerular endothelial cells are a specialized microvascular cell type involved in the regulation of glomerular ultrafiltration. They form the inner part of the filtration barrier and are involved in pathophysiological processes in the glomerulum.

Renal mesangial cells are perivascular pericytes located within the central portion of the glomerular tuft between capillary loops. Mesangial cells have a variety of functions including synthesis and assembly of the mesangial matrix, endocytosis and processing of plasma macromolecules, and control of glomerular hemodynamics via mesangial cell contraction or release of vasoactive hormones.
